On August 4 I presented an AWS Heroes in 15 session, “Amazon Rekognition for Wildlife Conservation”. Here’s the abstract:

In this webinar you’ll learn how we used Amazon Rekognition as a bear detector to quickly implement the first stage in our Bearcam Companion machine learning pipeline. After collecting data for a season and engaging the Bearcam viewers to help label the data, we trained an improved bear detection model using Amazon Rekognition Custom Labels.”
Learning Objectives:

Objective 1: Learn how we integrated Amazon Rekognition with an Amplify application.

Objective 2: Learn how we use a serverless Lambda function with Amazon Rekognition to automate bear detection.

Objective 3: Learn how we engaged bearcam viewers and Amazon Rekognition Custom Labels to improve the bear detector.
